Two children's books authors, Carolyn Sleet and Carol Butler
Previously called the ACPL Author Fair, the Local Author Book Sale took place on Saturday, November 30 from 11:00 to 5:00 pm in the Great Hall of the Main Library. Local authors spent the day selling their work and signing copies of their books.
I am thrilled to be invited again . . . to the 2019 ACPL Local Author Book Sale and to offer both Mama Joe's Kitchen and Genois Wilson: Firefighter books!
Many new and old friends stopped by to visit with Carol and to browse and buy her books.
Palermo Galindo was among the old friends that dropped by. It was a very pleasant day for all.

Since becoming a children’s book author in 2013 I have been the recipient of the greatest honor and thrill of meeting children the books were written for!
On November 1, 2019 I was invited to Fort Wayne Community School’s Northcrest Elementary School to visit Mr. Brown’s and Mrs. Colbert’s fourth-grade class.
The students were so attentive and interested in Mama Joe’s Kitchen. Before writing these books I could never have imagined being the beneficiary of such special rewards!
The children got to explore some of the things that were talked about in the book including an old measuring cup, an apron, a collapsible drinking cup, and a game called jacks. After reading the book, Mr. Brown expertly guided the classes through the lessons and information contained in the story.

Carol is the author and oldest granddaughter of Mama Joe. Her book is filled with her and other's memories of an incredible woman. Her Barnes and Noble guests got to discover the heart-warming story of Mama Joe as told through the eyes of her great-great grandchild. It’s an incredible story of how she became a school teacher in her late fifties. It also includes some cooking adventures in Mama Joe’s Kitchen and recipes just right to try with a young person!
A very attentive young listener . . . Hearing Mama Joe's story for the first time.
There was a great deal of interest about the story behind the story of Mama Joe.
First professional reading of Carol's Book by Condra Ridley, Storyteller. Condra has been a Storyteller for over 25 years.
A very enjoyable afternoon with the book coming to life through the very talented Condra Ridley's creative interpretation.
Checkout the new 4 minute video by Mylisa Kelly, Mama Joe's great grand daughter, of the Fort Wayne premiere of Mama Joe's Kitchen Book Signing on July 13, 2019 at the Allen County Public Library.
